Today we are reviewing the 3M Half Face HF-800SD Respirator. This product is a premium respirator that has a number of great features, which we will discuss today.
When we tried on the HF-800SD respirator,we found that you are able to hear us talking much better than you would in a traditional half mask respirator.
The blue button on the HF-800SD respirator is a seal check feature. When you put a respirator mask on, you want to check that it’s fitting your face properly and make sure it’s actually sealing.With other respirators, you would have to block the air intake into the filters to be able to do that, requiring you to hold your hands there. Maybe you get the seal right, maybe you don’t. With the 3M Half Face HF-800SD Respirator, it’s much easier to do the seal check. You simply press the button and it blocks the air coming in through the filters.
The 3M HF-800SD is a very soft mask, with a silicon face piece and flexible membrane sort of design. These features allow the mask to seal to the face very well and is super comfortable to wear.
There is a feature on the bottom of the mask called the exhalation valve. When you breathe out through the Half Face HF-800SD Respirator, the air comes down and is sort of pushed down. This is different from a lot of other respirators, which have the exhalation valve on the front of the mask somewhere which can be problematic with eye protection. If you’re wearing safety glasses or goggles, they’re more susceptible to fogging if the exhalation valve is higher up on the respirator. The location of the exhalation valve on the Half Face HF-800SD Respirator is a great little design feature.
The filters on the 3M Half Face HF-800SD Respirator have a swept back design. This means your vision while wearing the respirator is so much better because the filters are further back. In regards to the filters themselves, the P2/P3 filter is featured in this review. They are double-sided so air can come through each filter. So there is a very large surface area. This also means airflow is much more free and the mask is more comfortable to wear.
