Welding Helmets
This article looks at some of the safety issues arising from fumes produced by various welding processes, and at how you can best protect yourself and your employees.
Ensure that a welding lens has a high impact rated clear chipping lens underneath.
Physical risk is not only through contact with heated metals and sparks but eye risk is possible due to the obvious “welding flash” (a gritty feeling on the eye) and the not so obvious Infra-red thermal damage.
Check with your optometrist regarding the suitability of contact lenses for welding and cutting operations.
Welding eye protection must comply with AS/NZS 1338.1:1992 Filters For Eye Protectors.
