SafetyQuip Australia has announced the inaugural recipients of their Men’s Shed Community Grants Program.

SafetyQuip CEO Gary Shearer said the newly established grants program focused on contributing to community projects within individual sheds.

“I’m delighted to see this new grants program established,” he said.

“Not only are we directly assisting the members of the individual sheds but also the community as each grant is only awarded to sheds wishing to undertake worthy community projects.”

Ipswich Connect Limited was awarded $3000 for their Men’s Shed project, which assists disadvantaged youth in the community and focuses on classic car restoration.

Binnaway Men’s Shed was awarded $1250 for their heritage rail equipment restoration project, and Mount Pleasant Men’s Shed was awarded $750 for their skills training program.

Australian Men’s Shed Association (AMSA) Executive Officer David Helmers said he valued the ongoing support of SafetyQuip in providing financial assistance to selected community projects.

“Without such support, these projects would be difficult to deliver,” he said.

“AMSA greatly values SafetyQuip’s long-term support for the Men’s Shed movement in Australia as one of our longest corporate supporters.”

SafetyQuip franchisees will be visiting the winning sheds for a cheque presentation in the next two weeks.
